Cleanie Dini Tip Of The Day
Organize your inventory! To help you wash your boat more efficiently keep all your cleaning supplies in one locker, or in a dock box. Minimize the number of random grocery store "quick buy" cleaning solutions and keep only the finest cleaning supplies on tap. Keep the wash and brushes in easy access and the wax and polish in the back. It always helps to keep micro-fiber separate from everything else because by its nature it will pick up just about anything from dirt to leaves. Keep micro-fiber in Zip-Lock type baggies which will keep them protected from the outside environment. By keeping this space clean and organized it will be easy to find what you are looking for. I can't count the times I reached down to grab a simple brush and ended up finding a Banjo Minnow. Sometimes you are so Dry!If you are like me, you love to spend time in the hot sun drying your boat... Too bad not many people are like me! For this reason scientists in pursuit of a better, more Cleanie world have invented the Absorber and AquaDry. These two wonderful products are synthetic chamois and will provide you with months, if not years, of worry-free drying. Like a regular hide chamois, these rubber chamois need to be kept somewhat wet before use. Then they will absorb water and you wring them out. This is very effective and fun. The Absorber feels more like a normal chamois; the AquaDry is more rubbery and doesn't wipe well on paint surfaces when it is really dry; however, it seems to absorb more water than the Absorber (imagine that!) Salty SeamanMany times you get salty build up in parts of your boat where you would rather not have salt. A good way to deal with these spots is to mix up your own 50/50 vinegar water solution. By putting this mixture in a spray bottle you are able to break down salt that like to hide in annoying places. A stiff brush sometimes help get all the mineral deposits out of screws and brackets. After it is all clean spray in some Woody Wax too keep the salt from building up in the future. Aluminum PleaseAluminum: Usually on most anodized aluminum a large problem is salt deposits. Even if you wash your boat salt deposits seem to accumulate out of no where. I have found that waxing often helps but amazingly if you simply run your hands over the aluminum it will keep deposits from forming. Notice where you grab on hand rails they never have these deposits because they are always touched. |
